Traffic update

This Ramazan CDGK and the traffic police department deserve my heartfelt gratitude and Kudos from all Karachite.

For the first time in my life have I seen a collective effort between traffic police and volunteers ensuring a smooth flow all the way from Shahrae-Faisal to Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Mind you this involves a far bigger strength than you would normally see during VIP movements. On Hassan Square, Jail Road, University Road and Stadium Road, this group stands by all the way to Iftar to make sure that we get home on time and in, an as yet totally alien to Karachi, order and comfort. On the first day of Ramazan I thought it was a VIP movement but now the 8th roza, these guys have made me feel like a VIP.

When I say that there is hope, its itsy bitsy little thing like these that indicate we are on the right track and heading in the right direction. I have never before seen a Karachi government receptive to Karachites needs. Remember this is not the Senators or the MNA's or the MPA's at work. This is the local body system and CDGK. We must go out and support it.

Another five years and you won't recognize this city.

Jawwad - I see you remain committed to your effort to improve traffic. You have no idea how the 5 minute spiel you gave at Faisal's House actually touched me to the core.

I have always believed that change takes place one step at a time and you are very right to have argued that if one person stops at a traffic light soon a chain reaction results where many also comply.

Though I was already part of the idealistic philosophy but consider yourself to have changed at least one person in Karachi. ;)

Thank you Doctor Sahib. So between Faisal, myself and you, we have atleast three Karachiites who will follow the red light. And then maybe blue cheese in Lahore.

Appreciate the vote of confidence. My father used to say that a small problem divided by zero requires an infinite effort to solve; a large problem divided by a single resource can still be solved by a finite effort.

The power of one.

and to consider the fact, that I stopped driving. I traded in my driving gloves for theback-seat and iPod.

But on a serious note, you have to give credits to the volunteers who are doing a wonderful job.

Traffic in this city is a nightmare. I had never seen long queues on Sh-e-Faisal, but now its routing (traffic going to I.I. Chundrigar Road in the morning) and reverse at the end of the day (even when Ramazan had not started). it won't be long now, that Karachi will be able to boast traffic-jams like those in Bangkok.
