Irony
It is ironic that we go to ivy league business schools to build up and benefit from the "Network". And in the process leave behind a 20-30 year old support system that can push us farther in life.
The more I think about the decision to come back home and the opposition the suggestion faced in the immediate circle of friends and family, the more I believe in my counter intuitive argument.
a) The future is here (as in Pakistan and the region).
b) The future is now.
c) The network you have left behind is all powerful and looking for solutions and deals.
d) It will take you atleast a few years to get in the flow. If you work just as hard and smart as you worked outside, here in Pakistan for yourself, your compensation over the long term would pale in comparison to what you were making outside.
e) Yes there is a downside. Its part of the deal and it means that you would need to compromise on certain aspects of your life.
Remember the network grows with time and the longer you feed it the more powerful it becomes. A 30 year old network on your home ground will outperform a 10 year old one in your adopted homeland.
