Day One

The three Farids (Jawwad, Fawzia and Amin) headed back home on 30th December 2002. We landed at Karachi Airport just past midnight on 1st Jan 2003, this time for good. In a way this blog is two years late in coming since we have already gone through some interesting adjustments since our arrival back home. Part of the delay could be blamed on the thought that there was a book hidden somewhere in the transition from suburban Virginia to dusty Karachi and I wanted to get done with everything else happening in my life before settling down to write it. This morning finally figured that I might as well start writing since everything else will take a while before I get done with it and if I had my way there would be a book hidden in everything I do, did or am in the process of doing.
